Charles Berkhous

Charles R Berkhous, 85, of Corry, passed away Monday October 23rd, 2017 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville.

Charles was born January 15th, 1932 in Corry to the late Homer and Lucille (Craker) Berkhous.

After high school, he joined the naval reserves. He started working at Rogers Structural Steel as a welder, and later became plant manager. After Rogers Steel closed he worked at Erie Industrial Steel until his retirement.

On June 10th, 1950 Charles married the love of his life Marion (Chase) Berkhous. Together they had 60 wonderful years of marriage until her death on November 18th, 2010. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and hosting holiday get-togethers. He also loved working on his home and bird watching.

In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberly Kuzma and a sister, Dorothy Gibbs.

Survivors include five daughters, Catherine Willis and husband James of Elgin, Georgia Hawkins and husband Johnny of Corry, Eugenia Bensink and husband John of Clymer, N.Y., Vicki Edwards of Corry and Jacqueline Berkhous of Corry; three sons, Kenneth Berkhous and wife Ann of Columbus, Russell Berkhous and wife Tena of Russell and Michael Berkhous and wife Artica of Oxford, Georgia.

Charles was a proud Grandfather to 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.

He is also survived by sisters Sally Hellyer of Beaverdam and Kate Vadovitch and husband Bill of Hawaii, brothers Harris Berkhous and wife Helen of Corry and Jerry Berkhous and wife Sue of Union City, sister-in-law Ruby Chase of Warren, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Michael S. Pandolph Funeral Home, 75 N. Main Street, Union City, Monday October 30th from 10:00 am until 11:00 service.
