Pauline Silka

Pauline Silka, 90, of Union City, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 16, 2017, at UPMC Hamot. Born March 22, 1927, in Union City, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Anna (Potoczna) Miller. She was raised and worked on the family farm in Union City until she married John Silka. Pauline stayed home to raise and care for her two sons until later when she worked at Molded Fiberglass in Union City, then at Corry-Jamestown in Corry, where she retired in May of 1992. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Union City and a member of the Polish National Alliance where she served as secretary. She was a devoted Catholic who grew strong in her faith. Pauline enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a big heart for all types of animals, especially her Rottweiler, Sonny.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband John, who died May 19, 1997; brothers, Stanley, Frank and Joe and a sister, Sophie C. DeWitt; nephews, John Bielak and Martin DeWitt and a niece, Virginia Joyce.

Survivors include sons, John L. Silka, Sr. and wife, Cindy, of Fairview and Paul J. Silka and wife, Elaine, of Union City; grandchildren, Sheila Reed and husband, Joel, John Silka,Jr., Teresa Stippich and husband Will, Michelle Barto and husband, Jody, Nicholaus Silka and wife, Melissa, and Dallas Silka; great grandchildren, Colbie, Tallon, John III, Kendall, Coletin, Madelin, Taylor, Lucas, and Liam; great great grandchildren, Remy and Dax.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 2- 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Michael S. Pandolph Funeral Home, Union City. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with Monsignor Swoger officiating. Interment will be in St. Teresa Cemetery.
